I had a broody hen sitting on a bunch of eggs and just before the hatch date...she stopped. I didn't have an incubator so I took the eggs inside and kept them a little above room temp. Then I found somewhere trying to put the eggs back in the nest.. She or any of my other hens wouldn't sit. Here's the bad part, I was walking with the eggs in my hand and I accidently drop one. Out of curiosity, I opened it an found a dead baby chick :(. It was awful. Is there any hope for the other ones. I don't have a real incubator but could I put them in a glass terrarium with a heat lamp and a water bowl for humidity? If I'm just wasting my time then please tell me but I just feel so bad as the eggs were so close to hatching.

this is where I'm at now, not ideal but since I don't have a real incubator I figure its better then nothing

Also I've heard people hatching eggs that they buy at the store that are fertile. If people can hatch those eggs, do you think I can hatch mine

She might have stopped because she knows they are dead.
Birds can toss a egg gone bad.
