grit you can simply find at the supply store or big box. So grit is rocks that of been cleaned off for chicks. You can search the pond bank but it’s easier to buy it. Typically when chickens are on pasture land they go around and find little tiny piece of rock, anywhere from Sand to Pea sized depending on the size of the chicken, and they will swallow it so that way it grinds up the food in their gizzard
