My Professor talks so fast I can not keep up with him. I had no problem with beginners Algebra but this class is kicking my behind. I really need some help from you Algebra Experts.

This is the problem: Can anyone please tell me how to do this?

This is a Grouping problem........ The number in the parenthesis is actually the power, like 9q to the 3rd power

9q(3) + 6q(2) + 15q + 10

This one is Trinomial Factoring where IaI=1

-p(2) + 5p + 14

I haven't taken Algebra for several years, and I can't believe how much I've forgotten.

I think this is what he wants you to do.. if I remember correctly...

9q^3+6q^2+15q+10=
3q^2(3q+2)+5(3q+2)

And...

-p^2+5p+14=
(p-7)(p+2)

Edited: flip-flopped my signs in the second problem. Whoops!

Oh, and how I got that second one...

(p-7)(p+2)
would be... p^2-7p+2p-14 after multiplying it out, then simplify.
p^2-5p-14
Then you would multiply by the -1 to make it: -p^2+5p+14

(just in case they want you to show your work)

It's been a couple of years for me, too, but all I remember is "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally," or PEMDAS. Parrentheses, Exponents, Mulitply, Divide, Add, Subtract. A lot of my problems were reading the steps in the right order. Don't know if it helps. I'm just not genetically predisposed for Algebra. Geometry I get. Algebra I don't. Good luck.

My favorite T-shirt says, "ENGLISH MAJOR; you do the math."

enjoyin' my chickens :

alright I need to know if it is 9q^3 or 9(q^3)

Sorry about the incorrect keys

I'm so stressed out, I can't even think of the simplest things.

This is the equation: written properly I think ( It's a grouping equation)

9q^3 + 6q^2 +15q + 10

I finally remembered how to work the second problem after about 30 minutes of beating my head

The first problem shows the answer to be this: (3q + 2) (3q^2 +5)

Yeah, it's the same thing as what I had, but you went an extra step.
I can't believe I actually remembered how to do that stuff.

I wish I still remembered

It looks foreign to me now. I get so frustrated I'm in tears. I think I can see what you done a lot better than what the answer shows, if that makes sense.
