I’m sorry if I offended you @Bear1978 but I was taking to @HappyClucker7
Yup. Combs would’ve been more accurate! The guy had 40+ years of poultry experience, I guess just not in sexingLikely a pullet. If the comb doesn't change color in the next couple of weeks then it is female for sure.
Ugh. Feeling the distance between pelvic bones can determine layers from non-layers. It is not a way to sex chicks.
Thats great, Perhaps he Identifies himself as a Flamingo! I bet your HOA has no rules about Flamingos! LolI'm not allowed a roo....I got 6 little "pullets" 6 months ago. One had a tiny tail and red comb when we got him, but the guy felt his pelvic bones, and said he was a hen. SO.....after months of second-guessing myself........about 8 weeks ago I finally concluded he was a roo with his hackle feathers and large rose comb. Today he crowed. NO ONE HAS REPORTED US YET HAAHHAHAHAHAH! I still can't find him a home, so for now he's a keeper!
Danielplayz must have a lot of expertise because he gave you the answer you were hoping for.Thank you for the only person that understands
I just like to have chicken when I know them when they are you so they are more comfortable with me and it’s surroundingNot to stir things up more, but I have a question. If it's such a serious problem to have a rooster, why not buy pullets, or grown hens, instead of chicks. I don't want to hear that they're more expensive, because chickens are a luxury, not a necessity. If people would do a little research first, they would know that most chickens can't be sexed that early. My house burning down, or my cancer, is a crisis, CHICKENS, are not a crisis. I'm glad I live out in the country where I don't have do worry about these trivial things. Good luck with your situation, and we can tell gender in a few more weeks.
