I need help taking digital pictures, please

My EE's have just started laying, and I want to take a picture , but none of my shots show the eggs true colors. With flash they look washed out, and without flash they appear to dark. My camera is a Canon EOS, if someone has experience, or advice. Thanks in advance.

Try with the eggs outside in the sunlight on a white sheet of paper

color correct the paper for white

expose for the eggs, the white paper will come back to white and you will get details in the eggs

That is the best for shooting them outside! More detail in the softer light. You can still color correct for the white paper. Or try in photoshop to adjust the color to "cloudy"
