I need help with identifying what is wrong with my chicks leg and how to treat it.

Hello as the title suggests my baby chick has an issue regarding her leg. She is either fully Rhode island red or half Rhode island red, half Golden comet. She is about 5 days old and for the entirety of that time she has hobbled on one foot; she doesn't want to use her right leg. She is unable to eat or drink by herself. We have tried to correct her feet with boots, however I doubt its just her foot that is the problem. There where only two chicks born from the five I had placed in the incubator, I suspect that the incubator is at fault for her deformation as unfortunately her sibling came out with deformed feet and star gazing, as a result her sibling unfortunately passed away two days after being born. Any help in identifying the issue and or the treatment of it would be greatly appreciated.

Aw, poor little baby! I had one chick hatch out and I believe she sustained an injury or something but she couldn't use her leg. It basically just dangled. I was pretty upset thinking the worst, however, she healed up perfect no problems.

Now, with your chick, getting her eating and drinking is your biggest obstacle. Try some scrambled eggs, or soft cat food. We need to encourage taking in food. If you are thinking it's more than the foot, I'm not really sure what to do besides a sling type apparatus. There is links to how to use one here on BYC. Good luck!

For issues like this there isn't much you can do. I've tried fixing these but it's pretty distressing to the chick and there must be pain trying to reposition it. Mine ended up not making it
