This was a last minute thing and they're coronation eggs, I should've used practice eggs for the first time but I didn't have time. "LIVE-N-LEARN". I have more eggs coming for the 2nd hatch, FBCM's and Delawares. I'll see how that goes.

Oh honey!!!

The first hatch is almost ALWAYS bad!!! You need to learn the basics, know your bator and know your climate. As an example, where I live, in the desert, I have to add water twice a day to my bator. But someone in say Mississippi, may only need to add twice a week. Did you candle before lockdown?

I think I did a good job of babysitting the incy, for the 1st 2 weeks I did'nt even go to work (self employed) all I did was watch/monitor/adjust/watch/monitor/adjust. I had to go to work Monday and everything was going smooth but 2nite when I started reading some MORE ON HATCHING & had my blackberry to remind me of lockdown, I just wanted to make sure all was good. I also noticed that when I took the turner out the temp dropped to 98.5 and I had to readjust, I'm still checking to make sure everything is good before I go to bed. I have learned more about the humidity in the house than I wanted to.

I did candle before lockdown and all 3 are moving and the air sac looks good, so I'm guessing I'm in for another experiece on different ways to lose chicks.

My first THREE hatches were 0%. Don't give up!!! You will learn about your bator, your climate, etc. In my neck of the woods if I get 55% humidity it is INCREDIBLE!!! Don't give up!
