I need help with peacock eggs

has anyone else come up with anything reguarding peacock eggs???

I was given 6 eggs during the local fair. I put them in the incubator on Monday June 23, 2008.
I just candled them this morning....It looks like I have 5 out of 6 are fertile/with chicks in them for sure....The 6th one I am not really sure yet...
But if all goes well they should hatch on or around....Sunday July 20, 2008.

I haven't searched real hard yet on the net for info, but I believe you turn them until the 25th day.

I hope I have a good hatch. I can't wait for them!!!!

Tell us what you did differently, if anything, from hatching chicken eggs. Some of us might want to try this. Also, how much do fertile peacock eggs run?

Hi sorry it took so long but my one that hatched died. I don't know why but of died the next day. I think there was somthing wrong with it because it was flipping on it's back and it also has a messed up foot.

I don't know how to put pics on here.

I think they usually run about 10 - 15 dollars for one egg. My neighbor has some that are still laying. If anyone is interested I can see if she wants to sell some of her eggs because she was talking about selling some.

I did get some more eggs so now I have 5 eggs and all are fertile they should hatch at the end of the month. I have a chicken that went broody so I put some under her.

Peas are very hard. I have incubated them a few times with terrible results. Not one ever lived. I know a man who is very sucessful at incubating them under silkies or standard cochins. All of his hatch and live that way.

Hi Everyone...

Well, I have learned the hard way on the peafowl... Now, I am overrun with them

I am not complaining.. Peachics are very delicate... Alot of them will be born with their feet curled up or crooked and can not walk. That's when you have to become a orthopedic Dr for them.... www.peafowl.org is the place I learned everything plus talking to others. One thing you might want to do on the 25th day when you stop turning them is keep a bottle of water in the incubator so it's the same temp and lightly mist the eggs once or twice a day. A lot of the time they can not break the shell and you have to help them.. BUT... becareful doing this too, if they have not peeped through the first membrane to stop the blood flow they will bleed to death. I tried all kinds of incubators and finally broke down and bought some used cabinet incubators and I am so glad I did... I went from 30% hatch to 98%. If you have any questions just PM me and I would be happy to help...
