Hello guys, I joined this forum in order to be able to help a little guy that showed up at my front doorsteps. I don't know anything about chickens. If I miss anything just let me know. I found her curled up under my pine tree. So I took her in and fed her a raw egg with oats and a little of water. I had to force her to eat because she us very lethargic and not moving much. She does have severe wry neck. She survived over night, so I am going to make my way to the feed store and give her the best I got, because I don't want her to die. What should I feed her? How often? What can I do about the wry neck? I read vitamin E and selenium. What else can I do to help her? Please help me so I can better help her. Thank you guys. Picture will be coming in a bit. I appreciate any help

I am going to call for some assistance. @azygous @Eggcessive @ChickenCanoe. Meanwhile, please give some information that may help: where in the world are you? Can you get her some chicken feed? Do you have a safe place to keep this chicken, like a pen where dogs can't get to it? Do you think this could be the result of an injury?

I live in Odessa Texas within city limits. So I don't know how in the world this chick made it to my house. Yes I got her some chick feed dumor organic chick starter crumble, I also bought some electrolytes for her water which she isn't eating or drinking on her own. I have to force her to eat with a syringe. Yes, she is in a doggie kennel away from my dogs and cat! I am hoping she survives because I am growing attached to her. I thought it was wry because there were no open wounds but I am not sure. Thank you for helping

Poor thing. Wry neck is usually treated with 400 IU of vitamins E, a little thiamine, and some cooked egg for selenium. Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell a couple of drops orally would have all 3 of thise, and you could try to give a little extra E. Then get it drinking some water and more food. Chick starter would be best. Do you have any idea where the chick could have come from?

I will look at the other two feed stores tomorrow for the poultry nutridrench or poultry cell! How many times would I have to give her vitamin E and the other drops? So I can know when I get them tomorrow. How many times should I offer her food or water. Ive never dealt with chickens and I want to help her so bad!! I got dumor organic chick starter crumble. No I don't have an idea we live about 1 mile from the loop which beyond that is considered outside city limits. Thank you for helping me

The egg should it be boiled or fried? I was giving her raw eggs yesterday and this morning.

Boiled ;) looks like a buff Orpington pullet, I bet someone dumped her when she got sick. You're doing a wonderful thing in taking her in and giving her care. Get the vitamin e in her. Good luck! She's a pretty girl. I wouldn't force her to eat to much, offer her water and get the vitamins. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
