Hi all, hoping someone is able to give me more insight on 2 chickens I’ve been raising for 2months.
My daughter’s kindergarten class did a project on life cycle of a chicken. Long story short the eggs were brought to class and the chickens hatched, once hatched they needed a home and we volunteered to take two. This is all new to me one gives characteristics of a roo by features, the other that I was thinking was the hen is now crowing too! Can any one give more insight?!

Welcome to BYC!!
The grey one looks like an Amerucauna or Easter Egger, the barred one looks like it could be a Dominique or Barred Rock roo? For sure if it’s crowing.
Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

If its crowing, its a cockerel. The Barred Rock is definitely a male. The other birds comb is a bit more pale and small, however if its crowing, you've got yourself two boys! Are you able to keep them both?
Can BRs have rose combs?

Oh no! We were hoping for a hen, I’ve read so much online I believe I’ve confused myself even more. I was hoping that our Smokey with the light pink comb would possibly be a hen, but it’s crowing too! I’m not sure if we’ll keep both my daughter will be disappointed, guess we can always start over !

Maybe you can find a hen nearby and possibly rehome one rooster, check craigslist in your area.
