Gape worm is not all that common and more times than not, the bird has a respiratory ailment. Look her over for signs that Eggcessive has suggested and get her on antibiotics. Gasping for air like that, she may not be around too much longer.

Firstly what is Eggcesstive and secondly what is antibiotics??

If your bird has a respiratory ailment and is gasping for air, it may be due to a bacterial infection. So the bird will need antibacterial medication to stop the infection.

What do you mean by molters disease?? Are they molting?

I am really worried about my beautiful Silkie I think she might have the disease Gapeworm. I just heard about it from my book and it sound like my beautiful silkie Bella HAS THE DISEASE!! I am just starting up with chickens as my Grandfather is with the old English game.
Also she has been shaking her head a lot but I thought it was because she fluffy hair keep on get in her eyes oh and she has been pooing real wet brown looking poo and smells.

I have a 8 wk pullet breathing the same way. We lost one chick of this bunch at 5 wks, another at 6 wks, and now this one. All with the same symptoms. I don't expect this one to live, but want to know what we are dealing with, so we can protect the rest of the flock. Looks like whatever it is is "striking" with about a 10 day incubation period.

You might want to read post # 4. Also make sure there isn't coccidiosis going around in the flock, since that will decrease their immunity. Symptoms of cocci are lethargy, diarrhea, not eating, puffing up or huddling, and ruffled neck feathers. Treatment is Corid or Ampromed (amprollium) for 5 days. Cocci and a respiratory disease can occur at the same time.

The bird didn't make it today, and after she passed, quite a bit of yellow goo came up out of her mouth. Does that ring a bell for any specific ailment?

Would you recommend any preventative treatment for the rest of the flock? De-wormer, antibiotic?
