I need legbands that can have our phone number on them...

We live in a suburban neighborhood, and have a lovely coop with five layers.

We have them quite secure, but on the off-chance that one or more should ever make it out of our yard, I'd like them to be returned to us!

I've been looking for legbands that we can order with markings of our choice, so I can have our phone number on them. All I find are the type that large-scale production would use: different colors or code numbers.

Any idea how I can keep my girls safely tagged for return to us?

I bet you could get one of those vibrating-pen engraver tools, you know like you would use to engrave your phone # on household items in case of theft, and carefully engrave at least a 7 digit phone # on a reasonable width band.

Assuming your chickens are legal, though, probably your best bet is to make sure that people around you KNOW you have chickens and know what they look like
