Nope, completely wrong. Araucanas and Ameraucanas are purebreed chickens, Easter Eggers are mutts that can lay tinted eggs.

Ameraucanas were developed here in the states, hence the "Amera", and are often confused with "Easter Eggers". Ameraucaunas are a pure breed. They have beards and cheek muffs (poufy!). They lay blue eggs also.

Easter Eggers are any chickens that don't meet the standard of either of the above mentioned breeds and will lay either blue, green, or pink tinted eggs.

Sometimes, I wish they had named Ameraucanas something different, LOL. Maybe that's what is causing confusion; that plus hatcheries selling one as the other.

And that RIR, what a beauty!! Took one look at her and knew I needed some of them for sure.

Oh, this chicken addition is going to get me in trouble. My DH already thinks I'm Manic about chickens.

What a bunch of good looking birds on here. How am I ever going to be happy with just my 14 girls till they stop laying

And they haven't even started yet.
