I have a hen named Mable, she is a tetra brown who is about 4-5 years old. She is one of my head hens. I have hand-raised her since she was a chick, she was one of the original six chickens I got. She is getting a limp, I think its arthritis and I notice she is more often laying in the shade and not as active as the others. I only have 3 of the original 6 chickens I have and the other 3 are younger than them, Mabel is the only one acting strange. She will eat me fine, is still as sassy as ever, and drinks fine as well. However, I noticed that her crop is very empty when she goes into the coup for the night. I try giving her healthy and nutrient-rich foods and supplements for her water to help her out. O have her some water diluted apple chider vinager today and gave her some Gatorade yesterday to help hydrate and flush her system out. Is there anything else I should do to help perk my old girl up?
