I need some advise regarding my silkie rooster.

So my silkie rooster, Romeo, is three years old. I just discovered that the weird nail-like growth on the inside of his foot is really long. I need to know how to trim it down. Dog nail clippers aren't strong enough. Also, how much can I cut?

Sorry, have just got to ask; are you sure they aren't just spurs? Pictures, maybe?

I have used a hacksaw to trim long thick spurs.
