I need some confirmation that I'm doing ok !

Ok just to be sure... I bought niacin 100mg 100 tablets at rite aid for 3.99 and then a gallon of water for .88 and then put 1 tablet in the gallon and fill the water bottle from te gallon till gone ??? Sound right ?

You're doing great! What you described is pretty much what needs to be done.

Some people find the tablets do not dissolve easily, some seem to do fine. So you may want to put the tablet between two pieces of paper towel and put it on a cutting board or similar surface, and using the handle of a butter knife or something hard like that, crush the tablet. Or maybe if you put the tablet in the water tonight, in the morning it will be dissolved. See what works for you. It will depend on how the tablet was made, I think.

You should be able to use tap water to refill the gallon bottle after this. I would keep the niacin water in the frij - with a label on it!!! It ought not to hurt anyone drinking from it.

Unless they're allergic - but that is rare. My niece is allergic to it.

Yay!!! Ok now my last 2 major concerns are
#1 I am worried about the heat issue ... Again how long do they need to be so hot ?

And ....

How long before they "like" me?
Right now they don't like to snuggle or for me to hold them . :-( they don't follow or anything , but being I haven't had them a week yet I'm not worried ... YET....

Thanks so much for all your kind help !!!

When a week or younger they need temps to be around 85* then drop the temps by 5* each week there after till around 4 weeks old by then they should be fine without heat unless you have them outside in a duck house and they aren't completely feathered. This is where a thermometer comes in handy, They don't have to be hot just toasty warm like mama duck would keep them. As far as snuggling they may never like being held just their nature, but you may find if you sit on the floor and just let them wander around close by they will get use to your presence try getting some dried meal worms and tossing a few close to them after they get use to them toss them closer and closer till you can try them eating out of your hand. It may take a week may not. also mashed up lil green peas. frozen and thawed or salt free canned. Most all ducks love peas. and chopped up real fine Romine lettuce. But be sure if you offer any kind of food other than their feed that they have grit since this is how they chew[in their crop] all their food up. very important.

HELP !! I have an emergency question!!! The duckies are about 4 weeks old (tomorrow) and they are very very spoled lol! I give them lots of treats 9mealworms are their fav1) and koi food and theyre nuts over veggies too, but I am going to New Hampshire today (7 hours from where I live) and I have a "sitter" to come and change water and refill food etc...I just ran out of chick starter feed from when I got them...and there's no time to get more....so I have all living things duck and goose blend...i feed like the corn inside is too hard for them, so i strained it through a collander and only the litler seeds fell through,,,,is that sufficient for them? i usually add a sprinkle of koi food, meal worms and grit to their regular food...And they've been drinking the niacin water...how much longer do they need that?

At 4 weeks they can probably handle the corn as long as they are getting grit. If you can get a duck and goose blend then you have hit the jack pot, most of us can't and have to add niacin to our ducks food. Put the grit in a separate bowl for them and they will use it as needed. And the niacin should be given till 10-12 weeks old. Might as well finish the niacin up for a couple more weeks then they should be fine.

Have a great trip.
