i need some help desperatly for my school project

Research. Do a Venn Diagram with a comparison or do a T-Chart. Look up WW I and write down interesting facts and battles, do the same with the WW II then chart the results and you've got a paper. Don't use Wikipedia it's not facts and not acceptable in the educational world as a reference.

Difference in types of weapons...good luck on your assignment!
smile.png

Similarities are:
-lots of losses on both sides
-almost all of eurpe was affected
-fighting countries gained or lost colonies in other parts of the world
-many revolutions sparked before and after
-germany took to arms again
-big economic boom during the way
-usa profited be selling arms and weapons to both sides of the war
-austria-hungary empire separated in wwi
-germany split in two by wwii
-emotions during wwi sparked wwi

differences are:
-both fought for 2 totally different goals
-wwi was looking to gain control of trade routes of the sea
-wwii was a battle against the facist party
-wwi started as offense tactic by the germans
-wwii more of a border conflict or nation take over
-wwi poisionous gas, shells, tanks, aircraft
-wwii well built tanks, land and amphibious weapons, aircraft for bombing, ships with radar
-wwii helicoptor mostly used for medical missions
-wwi main conflict was problem or working together with allied forces
-wwii was fought with allied forces working together and containing forces without hesitation

i will make it look a lot more prettier when i type it tomorrow

looks pretty good...

aircraft played only a small role in WWI...WWII was fought and won with air power (might make that point there in the differences)

What was that offensive tatic used by the Germans called.....(teachers really like it when you use the vocabualry terms...)...might mention the trench warfare of WWI...

there were many countries that thought that the tactics used in WWI would define warfare from that point on...never noticed the inovations that were coming on at the end...France was a sitting duck because of this

WWI moved at the pace a man could walk...horses hauled most of the artillery and food...what did they use in WWII again...

and think...I am a science teacher...

Who still owes who money from I vs II? Number of troops deployed, by country, total, Death tolls, ratio of soldier to civilian deaths, ships sent/sunk, planes sent/sunk... plenty of things to choose from. Given how many I'd go for the weirder ones (that indicated deeper digging) so as to avoid looking like I just copied my neighbor's answers.

I would listen to "Writer of words".............she's got the inside scoop on what's accepted in a school environment....but that\\'s just me.............

How interesting this thread is. I find it fascinating to read other people's ideas on the differences in WW1 and WW2. It makes me realise that we all understand history from our own prospective. Our young friend believes that there is a difference in the causes of the start of the wars, i.e. WW1 was started by Germany's territorial ambitions, but WW2 was a fight against Nazism. I have always been taught that the causes were Germany's growing need to expand their Empire, following population increases, and also to take back land that they had lost after WW1. Had I grown up in Germany, I'm sure I would have been taught quite a different history!
