I need Some Help Please - Another One Dead

I have one 10 week old chick in my bathroom right now. She sleeps continuously. I know she'll die. I made her french toast this morning, but she hasn't eaten or drank water since the day before yesterday. I love my chickens, they are my pets, but I was never one to tube feed, I always feel its too late by then.
She didn't seem right 3 weeks ago. I wish I knew if not eating is a symptom of most illnesses, or the cause itself.

ParadiseChickens, don't feel bad if you're done. I was "done" about the time my boy decided to get over it himself. The timing just worked out good for him is all. You have a lot on your plate, and when the chickens are like this, it is a LOT of work, and a fifty fifty chance of survival. Don't feel like you are letting anyone down if you put her out of her misery. Sorry if it turns out that way, but not all sick chickens make it.

Every summer here in NH there is a lot of news on EEE, quite a few people have actually died from it in the last several years. Communities that had mosquitoes test positive for EEE even cancel outdoor evening events because the mosquitoes are so bad. Apparently EEE is quite scary! I hadn't thought about it affecting my chickens, I'm glad I read this so I can be proactive! Thank you.

I didnt feed her today. But I'll be darn if everytime I went to look at her she was eating a few morsels of her grower feed. I would put the water in front of her and she actually took a few sips. Did she eat and drink enough, who knows but I would guess that this is a major improvement. I let her outside some this morning and she walked pretty well but she is still very wobbly in her stock tank with shavings on the bottom and falls over quite easily and then will lay there and rest.

Only time will tell now if she makes it but as long as she is attempting to eat and drink on her own, I will leave her be unless she were to go downhill from there.

That's exACTly what mine did! I'm crossing fingers she eats and drinks enough. If she can sorta wobble around, I'm gonna bet she does okay and lives.

PLEASE please please tell us how she ends up. I just am really curious about this whole thing. How could a bird way away from here have the exact thing that some of mine did, from different booder boxes??? Plus what other people wrote. I think my state lab was wrong is all.

Thank you so much for caring to ask. I lost her Tuesday. I had to make that decision and I am missing her terribly. She could no longer walk, she would try and just topple over and sometimes roll completely over. I dont know much about sick chickens since this is my first experience. But she was so lively in her head and neck so was always bobbing that around when I would go check on her, it always made me feel like she was going to get better. But she wasnt and it was 100 degrees every day here in Texas and I didnt want it to get to the point where she laid over.

You tried to help her. Some just don't make it. At least, you gave her a chance. I am so sorry she didn't make it.
