My brother in law was leaning over a manhole and the same thing happened to him. He had the burns on his neck and face and has recovered with no lasting effects. I hope you get the same results.
Make sure he fills out an accident report so workman's comp will pay the bills.
My husband is a lineman and I tell him all the time to wear his FR gear. Thank goodness your husband was wearing his
You have my prayers
Thanks guys!! I just got back from the hospital... hubby can't wait to come home. Still very swollen. I could always count on my friends here for support! I hope I don't confuse anyone here, I don't shut down my computer much due to start up problems so it always looks like I am "online". I don't want anyone to think I am rude by not replying.. My mom is here helping me with my 3 kids amd there is nothing like having mommy around, even at 34 years old. I had the priest that was doing "rounds" come and bless my hubby and family. His lips are starting to peel a little and the tip of his nose also. Its all part of healing says the doctor. He said he is going to look worse before he looks better. I can't believe he could look worse. Thanks again for all the support, it is sooo appreciated! Ann

Hello, thanks for the prayers. I know it could be worse. He did not file a report with his job because it was his own fault that he didn't have the gas indicator in the manhole. He could be suspended for 30 days or possibly lose his job. His job takes safety very seriously! They were just finishing the job and they were putting everything away. They were working in that manhole all night with the gas detector. He said he must have hit something that released the gas and it went up like a wall of flames. Thankfully his helper is a very large "body builder" he saw the flames come up and grabbed my hubby by his coveralls and threw him up and out of the manhole. My hubby has told me of such horror stories and men lost to negligence. I was just happy he had all his flame retardent clothing and goggles on, otherwise he would be blind. Thanks for sharing and here is another example how important FR gear actually is!!
