So i should probably just let my black australorp hen dry naturally since she has tighter feathers?

Australorps aren't tight feathered or loose feathered, it doesn't matter what you do. I mean very tight feathered breeds like Leghorns or hard feathered breeds like gamefowl.

Yes, and I've done very well with them. They're tight enough feathered that I would never consider blow drying them for showing. I blow dry them some, when I'm not showing them, but not for a show.

You should be handling her almost every day. Before you enter her, go to at least 1 show, and learn what you can.
