I have an old friend that was an orderly at a state mental hospital for many years. Soon after he retired the facility was closed. When I asked him what happened to the patients, he said - "The state relocated them. Now they either live under a bridge or are dead".

It was not unusual for him to see his former patients in the obituary section of the paper.

X 6 on this. A noble undertaking on your part. As far as the health issues - as a kid MANY impoverished individuals in my rural town lived in refurbished chicken coops.
