Looks like a cockerel. Unsure of breed though but I don’t think it’s a marans

Definitely a Cockrel! Not sure on the breed though. Handsome fella I noticed some disagree with the cockerel opinion so if some morning soon you hear crowing you will then know, if you don't you will have a very beautiful girl to give you lots of eggs

Sorry it's a cockerel, black star. Did he have a white spot on head when he was a chick? If so then for sure rooster.

A black star, or black sex link, cockerel would be barred. That's why it would have the white spot on the back of its head; indicating it had the barring gene.
