Congratulations on finding someone who helped. I hope you get the permit. It sounds like maybe they don't really want chickens in the county.

Funny you should say that because I asked that very question to the fellow who helped me. He told me that since the program came into being about 4 years ago or so there was a large interest but it fell off over time. He said a bunch of people started to apply but quit, well sure if they went through the chicken poop I went through then its no wonder. Plus the woman who spear headed this program has since moved on.

I told my contact that I would like to help write a much easier program to apply for the BYC program. He said to write out your proposal and send it to his bosses boss. So I am working on thoughts, that I need to committee to paper and I think I will. It should not be this difficult to get a simple permit for chickens.

It was easier to get the building permit for my stand alone garage then it was to navigate the directions and figure out the physical aspects of getting the program to actually accept the application.

If you can find some places nearby to you that allow chickens, you can look up their ordinances and/or ask their town governments what the permitting process looks like. It's a good place to start. Good luck!

Ok haven't posted in a while, its day 3.5 since I have sent in my application. I know its early and these things take time. I have not heard anything yet, I'm taking this as a good sign and that the county has not just said no right off the bat. I just want to get this project off the ground. a Wise man once said. ( I have no idea who that might have been) watch what you wish for.

So on that note! What are you wishing for Today besides the proverbial Winning Lotto Ticket, every one wants that.
