I always find it fascinating to read how the non professionals feel about these topics.
Website promotion & design has been my specialty for more than a decade now!
Ok.. 11 years, but still
Graphic design came into play only about 5 years ago and only seriously in the last 3 so I know a fair bit about promotion.
1st... you have to choose which phrases you want to be on top for
2nd... your website has to target those phrases, and it would help if those phrases or keywords were what people actually use to find information like yours
3rd... your website must be a good one in other words it must work & function well, have the correct information and not violate any rules.
that's really it.
What can you do right now... just quickly becaues i normally charge for this stuff AND i have to go make dinner....
1.Your home page needs at least 2 paragraphs speaking heavily about what you do... biggest mistake people make with small sites is to have an "about us" type page or a for sale page, they should have that on their main page below the fold so that there is content where it counts.
2. Your photos should have REAL NAMES not IMG_0718.JPG. In the case of my own pictures they are as follows: or jerseybuffturkey.jpg
bufforpingtonhens.jpg You have 64 charachters to work with. yes you can slack off on lower level pages but the main pages should be done
3. You should widen your page to at least 800 pixels and use a <center> tag just inside the <body> tag
4. Lastly you need to quit using NAMO software and should either get assistance with this or buy software or even freesoftware.. may I recommend a Free version of the software that I have used for the last decade now? NetObjects Fusion 7.5 has a freeware download .
Your page looks like this to search engines:
<html>

as you can see... there is little to no mention of what you do and instead this software or your way of using includes to pull data in is whats crushing you by making your information practically invisible.
Here's my biggest tip as always KEEP IT SIMPLE
You would do better with a handwritten HTML coded page your page is simple enough to do that. Take a tutorial, take a free online class.
If you really want to learn this, you can.
AND FINALLY... make sure your trying to get yourself into a place int he search engines that YOU CAN ACTUALLY get to! Your not going to bump someone out of their place if they've been there longer and have a better website (and remember search engines care NOTHING for your design or colors, just function & content).
Lots of luck to you!
