lost my grandfather, my step mother in law and my dh's grandfather in a two week period.
I just spoke with my mom. Her dh is going for a bone scan Friday because the regular xrays, taken at the er because he fell on the arm when he lost his balance(recovering from a stroke he suffered 2 .6 years ago) and it immediately turned BLACK. Showed something that they are saying "could be bone cancer"
My family has avoided the "C" word somehow for years.
Every house in the neighborhood has been dealt a blow from cancer. The neighbor to the right the mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Neighbor to the left has an inoperable brain tumor. Neighbor across the street- lung and bone cancer. Neighbor across from the field- skin cancer. So now it seems we are going to be dealing with it as well. And with him already still recovering from the stroke. I really dont know what he is going to want to do or will be able to handle. And my mom. OMG I dont know how she is going to deal with this. He had the stroke literally months after she retired. She has since been the primary caregiver. Has had two weeks "off" in the last two going on three years. She has dropped a lot of weight. She never sleeps. If she gets sick she still keeps going because they cant afford to hire someone to come in. I really dont know if she will make it through this if that "shadow" the er doc saw is actually the "C" word.
He already made her promise she wouldnt put him in a nursing home. He wants to die at home. In his own space.
When will this crap end? I have to take my daughter to the hearing specialist next week because she still cant hear out of one ear. Ear infection is gone according to her pedi.. but her hearing was affected. cripes.
