Well, the black ones are Austrolorps. I went to the Ideal website to look at chick pics (that sounds dirty:ep) and think the ones with slightly darker markings on back and head are the RIR. I'm not sure which are the New Hampshires and which the Golden S/L. In the pictures the chicks of both look orangish. I have are some that are more yellow. I thought those might be the S/L. Not sure though. That would leave the orangish chicks as the NHs. I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got it wrong.

It really doesn't look like 52. I doubt my husband will even notice. He's out of state and returns tomorrow evening. I'll find out then.

Your babies are really cute and make me want mine sooner. Still haven't told the hubby I ordered any but them they are mine to take care of and he hasn't had anything to do with them except do the outside pens. I couldn't tell you what they all are. Maybe soon you would be able to identify them. Good luck and have fun!!!

Mine arrived on Friday the 21. All health & happy. Ideal had to include some baby roo's for warmth and now I do not know what to do with them. I can't keep roosters. Any advice as to what to do will be greatly appreciated.

Wishing I could order some chicks (or eggs more precisely). Trying to wait for warmer weather but darn it is hard to wait - especially since the weather here is great but I am worried that wherever I had chix/eggs shipped from they would be frozen on the way here. Nice to get to look at all your little ones.

OK, I am expecting my first mail order next week, (100 assorted layers).

I wonder though, when you order just 3 or 4, and they pack in roosters for warmth...do they charge you for those?

What keeps a body from ordering a couple birds, just to get the "freebies" to raise for meat? I always plan to order more than the minimum, so only get 1 or 2 extras just in case of DOA's. I think it would bother me to get more "freebies" than the birds I actually paid for. Are roosters really that "worthless" that the hatcheries can afford to give them away? That is sad.

Little boys need love too.
