Wrong comb for a Buckeye.....So I'm guessing RIR.

The winner gets free protein from thin air!

Just put a bunch of 3/8 inch holes in a 5 gallon bucket. Suspend it in the air. Put deer skin, or other such carcasses in there...
The flies lay the eggs,
The eggs turn into maggots
The maggots fall out the bottom
The chickens snatch up the "free protein from thin air!"

(make sure your chickens can not reach the bucket

Only works when it is warm enough for flies...

Thanks for the quick responses! I looked up pictures of RIR on Google, and they do look a lot like my chickens. I also wonder if they could be "production red?"

Yes, hatchery production reds. Nice looking birds, and if pullets, and should lay very well. A true RIR is a rich mahogany color and different body shape.
