I have read that chickens won't take chicks over a few days old, and that was 'iffy'.
I hatched some chicks May 9-11 (almost a month ago). I've had them in the house since then. I also had 2 hens sitting on one nest. Those eggs are due in a few days. Last night, I moved one of the hens to a new nesting box with some dummy eggs. An hour later, I started putting the almost month old chicks under her. This morning, she's acting like a mommy, and the chicks are following her around!
Just thought this would be interesting to those who have wondered about doing this.
