I really need a chicken run?

I live up against a wild live preserve, ya think I got hawks, you betcha I do.

My girls enjoy the day in their run with chicken wire over the top.

I did raise the coop off the ground about three feet so they could hide under there when the hawks come calling and they do. You have to protect your flock the best you can and that also means giving them a run to exercise in.

We built our main run using cattle panels, covered with chicken wire and half inch hardware cloth. It was a bit costly to build this way but we've not had any predator problems, so to us, the extra cost is well wort it.
