I dont know where to start this I am really upset and I feel totally numb right now, yesterday we had 2 very healthy fat playful boxer puppies, today we only have one.

we checked on them last night just before bed and everyone was fine, we got up this morning early to work the paper route - looked at the pups quickly they looked like they were sleeping.

we got home to let dogs out and DH said Abbey was laying on one of the pups, so I got him out and it was pretty much to late - he was having a hard time breathing and was not trying to hold his head up, so I wrapped him in a baby blanket and sat with him on the couch and watched as this sweet boy took his last breath and I lost it - I am having a very hard writing this without crying. I know it was an accecdent and that Abbey did not mean to hurt him - but now I have his brother crying and Abbey is a total mess looking for her puppy- I have never lost one like this. I cant shake the feeling that we should have done something for him but I know taking him to a vet would have ended the same way and at least he passed here at home with the people who love him.

I waited so long to welcome these babies into our home and hearts and a piece of me died right along with him today.

I have already called the people who were going to get him and told him he had passed, they understand that accedents happen.

I am sorry this post is so long -

no post is too long, im so sorry about the pup . Its always hard to lose a "loved one" . Just think he's beneath the rainbow brige running free...

I can totally sympathize with you. My heeler's first litter had 7 pups and she was stressed and kept laying on them and with in a day and a half, she had killed all but one. So I took the last one from her and tried to bottle feed it and wound up drowning it. I'm sorry for your loss. Hopefully the next time will be better. It was for me. Tess's second litter had 6 pups and I was able to sell all of them healthy and happy.

Sometimes baby animals will have some kind of problem from birth, might be sick and you can't tell, but the mother can.

If the mother thinks the pup has no chance then she will put it out of its misery the kindest way she can, by suffocating it.

That way the healthier ones have a better chance at life.
Thats just natures way.

sorry for ur loss.
