Hello all!

My RSL named Pebbles recently went broody. However, we don't have a rooster and the eggs aren't fertile. So, we're going to get some fertile bantam eggs from a Friend.
Because we live in a suburb, we don't have chickens at our house. Instead, we keep them at our grandma's house (she has 10 acres) which is 2 minutes by car and 6 by bike.

Should I leave Pebbles at our grandma's house to hatch the eggs? They only lay in one nesting box which is the same one Pebbles is sitting in. She would have to worry about the other girls sitting with (or on) her in the box. Every day, Pebbles would get 3 more eggs from the other girls which we would have to take, and that would be a lot of stress. Also, the other hens might pick on her, and if she abandons the eggs, we won't know for a while. And, there are 4 dogs running around and 1 in particular that likes to mess with he chickens.

Other option.
We set up a mini coop (which we already have) for her to stay in at our house. We can check on her all the time and she would be by herself. If she leaves the eggs, we will know. There are no dogs. She will have the small little coop all to herself. She would be in the shade with fresh food and water. The only problem is that moving her might be stressful.

Please help! What do you think? Please vote and explain your choice.

Thank you!

Here's Pebbles. She looks so mean!

Leave her at grandmas house because I don't think that it is that big of a deal if I understood the question right then you should probably have more nest boxes or you will just keep running into this promlem.

I have 4 nest boxes but they only use the one in the corner.

I say bring her to your house because you won't have to worry about collecting the wrong eggs from underneath her and accidentaly get a baby chick in the egg (it happened to me

) Unless your grandma has a small pen or something at her house that you could keep her in. Its easier on the girl if she has her own space to hatch and raise baby chicks without others disturbing her. If you do decide to move her do it at night, put her in a small dark box/kennel during transportation. Give her some dud eggs at first until she is settled and to make sure she is still broody. If she is still sitting on eggs in the morning give her the fertile ones the next night ( I know I've said to do alot of stuff at night but chickens are asleep at night so it reduces stress). Hope it all works out! Good luck!

No, my grandma doesn't have a small pen. Thank you so much for the advice.

ooohhhhhh shes going to raise chicks? I didnt understand the question. I would say to just invest in a small pen with a nestbox for her in it then.

I say bring her home because then it wont be so stressful. If the hens only lay in that box then it'll be stressful for her ALL the time.
