Hello all!
My RSL named Pebbles recently went broody. However, we don't have a rooster and the eggs aren't fertile. So, we're going to get some fertile bantam eggs from a Friend.
Because we live in a suburb, we don't have chickens at our house. Instead, we keep them at our grandma's house (she has 10 acres) which is 2 minutes by car and 6 by bike.
Should I leave Pebbles at our grandma's house to hatch the eggs? They only lay in one nesting box which is the same one Pebbles is sitting in. She would have to worry about the other girls sitting with (or on) her in the box. Every day, Pebbles would get 3 more eggs from the other girls which we would have to take, and that would be a lot of stress. Also, the other hens might pick on her, and if she abandons the eggs, we won't know for a while. And, there are 4 dogs running around and 1 in particular that likes to mess with he chickens.
Other option.
We set up a mini coop (which we already have) for her to stay in at our house. We can check on her all the time and she would be by herself. If she leaves the eggs, we will know. There are no dogs. She will have the small little coop all to herself. She would be in the shade with fresh food and water. The only problem is that moving her might be stressful.

Thank you!
