lol just got my chicks today, and have been thinking about what kind of coop Im going to build for them, but in the past 2 days Ive been thinking about this, the size has increased twice! I am running out of room at 8x8 so hopefully I will stay with this, that will still leave me a little growing room and enough of a run for them to go into.

LOL I started with 6 chicks

found out what size coop/run I would need for them (bigger than a little rabbit hutch I was thinking) so with no cl garden sheds available and shed kits to pricey... I figured - I have to build something so, I might as wll get more chicks so, it's worth the trouble

. I then then got 8 Arucanas. I am building a 8x8 for my new chicks. They are quickly out growing the 3x6 stock tank I have been housing them in - with fence cover, after one got out. I added 6 meaties 1 1/2 weeks ago.
Last friday was really warm here and I think the chicks where grumpy - the 6 chicks that are 4 weeks old started pecking on the 2+ week old meaties - that are about the same size as rest already (they where all fine in the morning and I had 6 bloody chicks in the evening - nothing fatal but

I had to separate them. Now I have 2 stock tanks in my enclosed sun room. And we have rain in the forcast for the next full week

Congrats on the new chicks but, Start building now - they really do grow fast!!!

Try 87-7 week old standards still in the house, plus additional 8 bantams and 5 ducks! We got an 8x 12 meat bird coop done last weekend just wating for my hubby to have another day off (two weeks starting Saturday) so we can roof it, then all of them are going out there (it has a run too) till we can start the big coop, hoping to get that done in just a few days time (My folks are coming down to help us and help watch kids for us). In the meantime, while he's at work the kids and I (1 1/2yr old son and 2 1/2yr old daughter have been trying our very best to get the bantam coops and duck house done- they are so patient and try so hard to help! I'm the biggest procrastinator, but I flourish under pressure!
