Try this:I am a first time chicken mama but I notice discharge and black scabs. If I had to guess it looks like dry fowl pox. Do you know where I can get Terramycin without a script? I did clean it with a warm compress and put antibiotic ointment. I do have a flock of 13 so I did remove her and put her seperate. She is not having any breathing issue and is eating and drinking. Any suggestions would be helpful
In those pictures it looks more like it might be fowl pox. That is a virus transmitted usually by mosquito's. The lesions start as pale bumps and gradually turn darker, scab over and fall off. It usually runs it's course in a few weeks with no real issues. However since the eye is affected, and it can be if there is a lesion close to the eye, I would put some ointment in the eye 2-3 times a day if possible. Terramycin would be good, if you can't get any then you can use plain neosporin in that eye. When the lesions are close to the eye sometimes they can cause a secondary infection in the eye. I would also check inside the beak, make sure there are no lesions or plaques in the mouth or throat. With dry pox it only affects usually the external unfeathered parts of the body, with the wet form (less common) it can cause the lesions in the mouth and throat. You can dab a bit of iodine or betadine on that large lesion above the eye to help dry it out, just make sure it doesn't get in the eye.
Not seeing any pictures, this is the best pic I can find quickly, at least you can see the upper part. Nothing but pale pink tissue, no yellow, white or brown gunk anywhere. Below is a link to an article that has some pictures of the mouth with wet pox lesions in it.
