I really need your honest advice!

they're super rich, and we're super broke, so there's no way I can pay them to fix their fence. it's really a foolproof fence, unless some fool leaves it open. I agree, if my birds are on MY land, they should be safe (other than foxes, hawks, etc), if my birds go on their land and get eaten, my bad. if their dog comes to my land and does damage, it's their fault. if my dog is on their land, and wrecks something, I will gladly pay for it... but when she ate a pillow on their couch, after I expressly asked them to not let her in the house (they let her sit on their couch and feed her crazy expensive dog snacks)... I didn't offer to pay for the pillow. If you invite an animal on your land, the damage is your responsibility. if you don't, it's the owner's responsibility. that's how I feel.

I would not say anything, but I would install a fence around my land,or in the least around the coop. Then if the neighbors asked why I was putting up a fence I would mention the birds were attacked, and that it was to protect the birds from free ranging dogs and other animals. Not placing blame on their dogs directly.

If you mention and/or suggest to the neighbor that they should do a better job of controling their pets, well that will result in an immediate change in neighbor relations.Even if you joke and are otherwise nice something will change because you dared to say something against them....even in a nice way.

Put up a fence.Keep your dog in.Keep their dogs out.Let them play together when you want them too.Protect your flock. All will be better.

And if a dog should dig under or climb over a fence you can return to owner, call ac,or sss. Anything you do to a neighbors pet(even if they just suspect you) will change relations. Your only hope is that the neighbors see what lengths you are going to in order to protect/control your animals, and that sense of responsible pet ownership will rub off on them.

Fencing wire off craigs is cheap.Or some plastic fencing and you outside to guard.Put aside some cash each month towards the fencing. I am saving to build a run,and MAYBE by next summer I can start buying supplies. We used money earmarked for siding/driveway.I have an ugly house but a beautiful fence enclosing my entire lot.

Best wishes!!!!
