I really thought she'd find a new nesting box...

Despite it being occupied by a broody hen, our leghorn has stubbornly insisted on laying in the favorite nesting box each day. I've read others have the same experience, so I was not surprised.

But when the chicks hatched, I thought for sure the leghorn would use another box - if for no other reason than the mama hen would not want her there.

Nope! Apparently mama hen does not mind the leghorn coming in to drop her egg, despite the baby chicks already running around inside. 😂 Mama freaks out and attacks anyone else who comes near, but the leghorn gets a pass. Who knew? 🤷‍♀️
