I really want a goat... :)

Thanks guys! I will probably only have an acre, a large meadow with woods for them, but we will only get two and play with them often and bring them up to the backyard and take them for walks on the conservation trail. What kind of animals may try to prey on them? We have fishers, foxes, cyotes, ou name it. We have even seen rattlesnakes.

I never had any problems, other than neighborhood dogs getting into the fence (but mine were kept pretty close to the house). One critter I have heard you need to watch out for (oddly enough), is raccoons (when they are young). I have a friend down in Texas that has issues with 'coons getting at baby lambs/kids out in the pasture. (It's just something I never even worried about 'til she told me.) From what she's told me, they can maul a baby pretty badly...

They would go in a secure building at night- but we have a fisher cat and those things are nasty. We had one (we think) that climbed chicken wire seven feet and bent it away and killed/ate one of our chickens. RIP Eleanor. It also mauled my Molly very badly and wounded another bird. Thank God it didn't have infected claws! It could come out in the day, but the fence would be electrified on the top, and a good four or more feet high. Would that stop it?I would hate to think of my (future) babies being attacked. We could move them closer though, and lead them to their pasture in the morning... Thanks!
