I received my 25+1 chicks this morning. ALL DEAD mcmurrays shipped them Wednesday from Iowa to Missouri. 6 days 1 state away USPS should just be shut down and america find a new delivery system for mail.

I am so sorry!

The USPS has really gone downhill this past year. I used to get 70% hatching rate on shipped eggs. This past summer I ordered eggs from 6 different places and got only about 1/3 to hatch. What the heck takes them so long is beyond me. And also, are they playing football with our boxes of chicks and eggs or what?

I haven't noticed any mistreatment of packages I've got lately. No damaged boxes or anything. But....
Yes, USPS is terrible now days. I buy stuff off of Ebay and it always takes 3, 4, 5 days longer then their first estimated delivery date.
Seems here packages sit in the major hubs for a few days often. I would not buy chicks through the mail anytime soon. And hatching eggs only if I was prepared to possibly throw that $$$ away.

Oh that's so terrible! I'm so sorry to hear that! Was the box not marked as having live animals? USPS (& FedEx) are absolutely horrible! UPS is starting to go downhill too, imho. None of them seem to care anymore. I don't know where they get these people they hire, but it's definitely from the bottom of whatever barrel they find!

I’d be absolutely gutted! That’s quite the delay and I’d be upset with USPS but that’s the risk with having them shipped.

Couple the late delivery with the extra 15$ they now charge for shipping anything perishable (plants, chicks, fish, meat etc) and it’s not great.

I sell fish and aquarium plants on eBay and for the first time one package has vanished into thin air! Unhappy buyers are a headache especially when they continue to throw a fit after refunding their assumed DOA fish (shipping is not refundable as per my DOA policy).
I can only imagine the backlash hatcheries get from buyers who don’t understand the simple fact that they do not control USPS (or any shipping company). I don’t know if they could pay me enough to work in their customer service.

First thing I'd do is take pictures and contact the local humane society in both states Go to the local media and X ,
contact the USPS inspector General and your congress critter as well

I lost half an order of 40+ chicks, then they remailed them two days later and they also took from Wed to today to arrive and they were all dead. I am sick and sorry you are dealing with this.

I have been on hold since 8AM. What a terrible company.

Phew...glad my first order of chicks ever was canceled by the hatchery due to poor weather. As much issues as I've had with shipped eggs, I'd hate to open a box of dead chicks.

My condolences to the OP, @marilyn1954 . Unfortunately that happens sometimes, and there are a few posts every year. Shipping chicks is not a perfect system. It's okay to share your experience, but not okay to flame.
