Keeping you in my prayers, BigMike. You might want to talk to the youth pastor at your church. The young people are up to the minute on the latest technology and could probably help you with an inexpensive upgrade to your computer that would enable you to continue to use it. If you don't have any luck there, call the principal of your local high school. The STEM kids are a great bet too. The only issue might be that you would have to go to them vs them coming to you. School rules, you know...

Mike, I really hate you got such bad news. I know I said I was going to quit reading your posts because everything you post looks so tempting and delicious....but I really didn't mean it. I have learned a lot from you and will miss you as my go to person on cooking. Please do take care of yourself and don't strain your eyes.
I had the glaucoma scare a few years ago and I got to where I couldn't stand being on the computer (my pressures were high but it was not actually glaucoma). I had just met a nice gentleman on a Christian dating site called Big Church so I ended up giving him my phone # very early in the game. I was divorced after 34 yrs which was a bummer. Then I was backed into a corner that resulted in a job change which put me off work a week or two. Said gentleman and I spent a lot of time on the phone during that time. Then a few weeks later I did something totally uncharacteristic of me, I married him after we had only spent a couple of days together. That was 8 years ago and was truly a blessing from God. I tell you this to remind you that God can work good things out of bad situations. He may or may not let you keep your vision but He will guide and comfort you and still use you to touch and teach others as he has used you here.
I will be praying for you my brother in Christ.

I was just looking at some internet info on glucoma the other day.... Are you going to try for laser surgery? Has the doc mentioned that?

I'm wondering about that idea of having the computer read to you too!! My computer tries to do this to me ALL the time if I so much as press the wrong key, and its hard to get the lady to stop talking at me!

There should be a setting on your computer thats not too hard to find, to get it to start reading everything to you. Kind of like a book on tape. Then if you have a microphone, it does what you tell it

I'm hoping you can get this computer stuff figured out so you can keep us up to date on the Sensei wisdom.. and I know the internet is pretty darned helpful when cooking!
