I don't know how that happened. It just started spitting up water or some kind of clear liquid so I turned the egg on it's side and it didn't help. The little one died. When I saw another one doing the same thing, I pulled away as much shell as I could with out causing any bleeding and left it to try to survive. When I removed the shell a lot of liquid spilled out, is this natural or would the baby have gone ahead and drowned if I had left it in the shell?
I went to bed about 330 this morning and it was peeping. I got up a while ago to check on it and another one that was having trouble and found the 2nd one with the shell stuck to it and laying on it's back. I gave it a warm bath and removed the shell while I thought about what to do with the other one. It was still alive but stiff, like the gunk in the egg shell had made it difficult to move. I think it still has some yolk stuck to it but took it and gave it a warm bath too, to try to loosen up it's feathers/fur so it could move. It seems to have helped but only time will tell.
Might I have done the right thing for the drowning baby? Sylvia
