I saw it being laid

I've seen several- isn't it amazing? I got pics on one occasion...

I have a 6 month old silver phoenix who has only laid about 6 eggs at this point, and I happened to be gathering the eggs when she was on the nest to lay. She's generally the most docile of my hens, doesn't mind me touching her, and is quite friendly, but on this occasion, she was not happy to see me, it appeared. She was being pecked at from the front of the nest box by the older girls who wanted the nest to themselves, and she had her head all tucked into the corner, with her rear up. She was growling! I actually didn't hang around to watch the egg-laying, because she was starting to peck at me and I felt really bad for her. I figured she needed all the privacy she could find.

I have seen my little silver-laced wyandotte drop an egg, watched the wetness disappear and carried it, all nice and warm in my hand, to the kitchen. As fascinated as I am by the whole process, I must say, it did slow down my egg-eating for a few days.
