Hard as it may be to leave them there, bringing them to your house might start up a boatload of trouble and disease with your own flock. How many were there? Do you think you could isolate them effectively?

Maybe the best thing to do would be to call the ASPCA and report animal abuse. Failing to give needed medical care is a form of abuse, for sure.

I'm with you. I would have wanted to do SOMETHING!

There are quite a few of them...maybe a couple dozen so there is no way for me to take them. Who would I call to report them for neglect?

By the way, any time you go to a place like that, always disinfect your shoes and wash your clothing thoroughly! Wouldn't hurt to spray your tires with bleach, too. It's very easy to act as a vector (carrier) of diseases in a place like that.

What a horrible site. I would also turn him in. You might not be able to convince him to take better care of them, but a visit from the county will.

I'm gonna look into the links provided. I feel so ill everytime I think of that poor roo sitting there while the hens are all pecking him relentlessly. Turns my stomach.

I would turn them in...what else is going on there that you maybe didn't get to witness? That is just sick and there is really no excuse for this type of thing. I would not do businesss with them - on any level. Truly sad...it sickens me.

If you don't want to turn them in give me their address and I will do it. The police don't take that stuff mildly. Not providing medical care to an ill animal is animal cruelty. They can be fined and have the animals taken away if they are not taken care of. I'm in New Hampshire and don't mind a bit making a ruckus from here! Animals can't speak for themselves so someone has to do it.
