I screwed up at work

Actually I'm kinda shy so my plan will be to email the head guy and if he says to apologize publicly, then I will. Otherwise I need to forget this and move on to my next scew up....
If anyone says anything directly to me I will say "Yep, i screwed up. I admit it. Now I'm waiting for the black shadows from the movie Ghost to come and drag me off to Hades."
I think this is my plan for now.

My BIL got in big trouble because out of frustation he called someone a stupid Mexican. BIL couldn't understand why he was the one who got in trouble. After all, the worker in this case was a Mexican and, in BIL's opinion, he was stupid. BIL worked in a landscape business at the time, and the individual in question had liberally applied RoundUp to all the rosebushes as well as the weeds. And yes, he had been shown as well as told what he was supposed to do. I thought the whole incident was funny, but then they weren't my roses. The interesting thing is, to me anyway, was that the person who reported BIL was someone who was not involved in the incident at all.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Bet your stomach hasn't stopped hurting.

Remember everyone screws up like that, all the time. You are not alone.

Imp- Sounds like you have a responsible plan.

You are very kind, Imp. Thank you.
It makes me sick that I am so weak that I actually worry about petty stuff like this when many of our friends on this forum are suffering from REAL problems.
It makes me sick that a few people cannot take a joke and shrug it off and think to themselves, "Maybe it was in bad taste, but I'm not going to turn this person in."
Step one was taken... the apologetic email sent. Better the fellow read it on a relaxed, sunny afternoon than on a stressful Monday morning!

Come on! You are going to leave us all hanging? What was it you said...Some of us, who are not so thinskinned and can take a joke, as well as give one, would like some new material.

As for the rest of the world, they need to learn to get over themselves
Ain't it the truth. Some of my best laughs came at the expense of my background.

I'm somewhat off the hook at this point. The head guy emailed me back and thanked me for fessing up and said it is best not mentioned. I told him I would say nothing unless directly confronted and thanked him.
That is something I love about men. They deal with something. They DEAL with it in their mind and then can forget about it. Many women are wired differently and stuff just floats all over and hangs on with us and we stress over it.
Somebody help me think more like a man!

There's nothing you can do about it. Society has undergone a 30-40 year brainwashing, to get us to the point we are at, today. A crime isn't just a crime. It's a HATE crime. In the end, we will end up in little enclaves, where everyone is of the same mindset, and getting outside of that, would be enough to set off a territorial skirmish.

Amen Royd! To commit a crime against someone you must either despise or downright hate that person. But never the less a crime is a crime. People need to stop being so thin skinned and getting offended at every little thing. I know I may be stepping on some toes but those people need to grow up. Learn to laugh it off or roll your eyes. I live by a simple motto: Right is right, wrong is wrong, and that is that, period.

. . . . In the end, we will end up in little enclaves, where everyone is of the same mindset, and getting outside of that, would be enough to set off a territorial skirmish.

If I didn't know better, I'd think you'd been hanging around the barn where I work

Do the barnfolk there freak if you introduce a new kind of tack or a new riding discipline?
I knew of one show barn where a boarder happened to want nothing more than to ride his horse down the road and let it eat grass in the ditch and he was back stabbed for it....
Who cares what he does as long as he is safe? He is paying board like every other person there!!!
