I just went today and got my husband a great Pyrenees puppy. After getting it home it is shaking, can't stand up, can't eat or drink by itself. The guy admitted to possibly overdosing with happy jack worm medicine. He said we could bring it back, but it is so sweet. I have given it electrolytes with a straw. I bought a baby bottle and gave it milk and puppy food through it. He ate about 3 ounces. He is acting a little better than he was. Is there anything else that I can do. No vet here to take it to at night or on the weekend.

It is 6 weeks old

He/she could just be scared of its new surroundings. When we first brought our now 4 yr old boxer home...he was so shaky and scared and would even sleep standing up. After the first night, he was ok...Good luck with the puppy...

IS he used to the milk/formula you are giving him? or was he weaned already? I'm asking because sometimes giving formula can do more harm than good if the animal isnt used to it. keep up the electrolytes. HOw old is the pup?

No it's not scared, this has been an all evening ordeal. Normal puppies do not act this way. It's heartbreaking. It has no co-ordination, balance, or strength. It doesn't even whine.

The guy admitted to overdosing it, all the pups he had are acting the same way.

Is there an emergency vet clinic in your area that you could at least call for advice? There may be something you can do to counteract the poison the poor puppy was given too much of.
