I should NOT have to deal with this pre-coffee!

Well, I got to have my coffee this morning!

Unfortunately, the trap was empty.

Fortunately, the cat wasn't in the trap.

Unfortunately, we don't know if the skunk is just hiding or if it's gone.

Fortunately, our dog didn't get sprayed again when we let her loose to see if she could find it.

Well, at least the chickens are all safe and the smells is going away.

1 qt H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide)
1 box baking soda
1 table spoon Dawn dish soap

Mix it all together. It appears to be the most popular home remedy. Don't save this stuff if left over. Don't put it in a closed container as it will build pressure. A bit in the mouth of the dog probably won't cause any harm, but try to keep it out of the eyes.

I don't want to hijack your thread but I just had to say that I relate with your dog! I went over to my friend's house one Friday night about 12 or 13 years ago. We were going to out on the town and visit a few dance clubs up in the Philly area. When I arrived at his house he wasn't ready, as usual. He was always such a girl with having his hair perfect. Anyway, I let his dog out so we wouldn't have to do this later. Then I went into the fridge and popped open one my favorite adult cold beverages and then went out back to watch the dog. When I walk out the door the dog is nowhere to be found. I start calling him and then I hear him in the very back portion of the yard between the shrubs and the fence growling and jumping around. I walk down the fence line and reach behind the bush to grab his collar and that's when I see the skunk. He apparently saw me coming 'cause when I reached down for the dog's collar he sprayed me - not the dog - me. I felt the spray hit my face and saw it on my glasses. Talk about stink. It took me days to get the smell off my glasses. I can laugh about it now but at the time I was *$%&^(@#. To this day my nickname with that crowd is "Stinky".
