I slaughtered my first chicken today. Asian style (Graphic Pictures)

great post. Not only did it focus on the obvious hard to see butchering, but the more important human element that goes along with it! Heck, even the blood patty looked good to me, but them again I will eat just about anything! Thanks for sharing!
 
What am I doing wrong? I can't find any plucking or dressing photos. You bleed it out, scald the feathers loose ... then you have a spoon in your hand, and there's the head eating bet. I wanna see how you gutted the thing.

Sorry didnt clarify what i meant. you mix it with flour just like your making a gravy.
Put it in when your about 3/4 way thru cooking the stew. You can also make dumplings with it.
just dont forget the garlic.
Then put it in the stew pot with all kinds of veggies just like a vension stew.
That way it dont patty up in a patty like that one did.

The blood patty is pretty good. It's like a flavored tofu. I usually get lazy though and don't save the blood. We boil it on it's own after it congeals and then cut it into cubes to put over veggies. Yum!

Guys Im glad ya'll enjoyed the pictures, I had fun putting them on here! I do think this is what the backyardchicken forum is all about! I love the fact that I can finally talk to other chicken enthusiasts! lol seems like when I talk to most people about chicken they act like they're listening for all of 30 seconds! I guess it just takes a special kind of people to enjoy things all of our ancestors were very familiar with.. but now people just think that "chicken" is only something to be found at KFC of Popeyes or that stuff you buy at the grocery store... some people will even say "gross they dont like to think about where eggs come from" LOL as if eggs would be more appitizinq if they were grown from the ground or like a fruit from a fruit tree

I really didn't enjoy the killing and then eating part of the chicken I raised from the incubator but I knew it was a milestone I had to complete! to get less cityfied!


To: Birdhappytrucker, Ha yeah the way you described cooking the blood sounded like that would have been WAY better! maybe I need to share that idea with my Grandparents! because Im positive Im not eating any plain blood and salt patties ever again! blah!


To: Eggsforsale, the pot and burner would be the same set up as what would be used to fry a turkey, maybe try a propain dealer or someone who sells grills such as Lowe's or a local feed store or cooking store.

You can also use it to make a chicken sausage way many things combo's all kinds of good cookin's.
Try making a chicken patty mix instead of the salmon patties or jack mackrel patties believe it or not
it is delicouis that away also with the blood broth added to it. There is so many ways of using the
blood in cooking that most folks dont even think of. Just like squirrel head gravy or squirrel head stew.

Just go to the old timers they can give you lots of ideals with foods if your willing to listen, learn,just
most of them learned from the doing not the reading except thru reading the signs of mother earth herself.
Thinking I will have homemade cracklin bread , Fried chicken, collards with hog jowl some black eyed peas with
some old fashion salt pork, now if I just had me some of the old raccoon/possuem done with some yams for
good luck
on New Years....

ps dont forget the catsheads biscuits to go with the gravy.
