I lost a few chickens last year to coons and hawks, but not anymore. friends of mine had to move out of state and could not take their farm dog with them, so he is mine now and doing a great job of keeping the predators away. He is a collie/shepherd mix and he stays in the paddock where my goats and my chicken coop are--so far so good. I hear him bark at night and know that he is doing his job! He doesn't eat chickens and he lies around with the goats. I don't lie awake at night worrying about my chooks anymore.
