Our son was a million dollar baby, for 5 years now I've been crocheting for the nicu and the maternity floors at loma linda (we had to be medi-flighted in from the town hospital). Now that he's older and can understand, Mr. Saddi and I have become foster parents for fragile infants.

This is a great project for a beginner. All you have to do is cut a bunch of squares. We can hold your hand through the whole thing if you like. I've have only started quilting with a machine in the last year. Up until then it was all by hand. I did a Queen-size to the floor all the way round by hand a few years back for my parents 50th. Took me a year and a half!

Sometimes you can find a machine on Freecycle or cheap on craigslist. My machine is the basic of basic from Walmart about 10years ago. It was the $99 special! But if all you are doing is stitching a straight line for quilting or making clothes it's all you need.

Come along Rocker!!!

AWESOME!!! I have made everyone in my family a quilt so now it's time to move on to other people. I do them for the kids in honor of my parents and the wonderful home we had. Even now, all the kids, grandkids and great grands want to be at my parents house for the holidays. Spouses just had to accept it as that is the way it is. A friend of my mom's after her husband passed started going to my folks house too. When her daughter-inlaw said they were doing Christmas Eve at her house, she turned around and told her, "Have fun, I'll be at the Silvers' house" lol.

I can buy fabric today - - - if you tell me how much I need. Then I'll let you know what novelty pattern I picked.

I can hand sew, that's for sure, and I'll look for a machine on Craigslist and ask on Freecycle.

I think I will work on cutting out some of my fabric today......I'm feeling a little better here but now I can hardly hear out of my left ear, to much coughing I guess (13 days of it) must have done something in there.....

If I sign up can I wait to put up what kind of fabric I'll have, I can't go shopping for a few days yet to see what I can find. Also, my mom is going to show me how to set up my sewing machine, it was my grandmas and a Singer from 1909 but it will sew through two layers of heavy tarp! I haven't used it in over 20 years!

Plymouth Rocker.....

I had a piece of fabric that was 36 inches wide and 41 inches long. I cut 4 strips length wise (41 in.) and that gave me 36 (6 1/2 in.) strips with 15"X41" left over.
