I started them in the incubator today! 6-20-12

I am jealous! i hope mine are doing well, some shells are really thick and i cant see well and mine are peafowl so it takes longer than a chicken.

. We just had an accident. I was adding water (humidity dropped to 41%) in one of my other incubators and my son accidently bumped the into it. It knocked one of the bantam eggs out of the egg turner & cracked it. It didn't break the membrane as far as we can tell. There was no liquid leaking out. I'm not sure if air got in the shell or not. It's not a hole just a crack. The egg has been in the bator for about 2 weeks so, when we checked it of course his heart was broken. We tried to salvage it with wax. I've heard that this will work if the membrane is not broken and if it is caught early enough. Has anyone tried this?

Aww what a bummer chickerster... I used the wax on one of my eggs it was a very small crack... egg was thriving till today when i went to turn i smelled a strange smell from the egg so went ahead and candled it and the poor thing quit .. :( no viens looks all wrong...so now out of 14 eggs we had on no development and one quiter... Hope urs does well

I really hope this one makes it. I just checked and the wax was holding. It really has the looks of the 14 days. I kept looking for movement, but I didn't see anything. My son thinks it's scared so, it's being real still. I really hope so. I'll check it again in a day or so.

Cotton42-I didn't mean to add about my cracked egg to the bottom of your reply about the sweet little chick. I'm still learning BYC. I'm sorry.
