Oh my stomach aches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We originally planned 10 so we'd end up with 8. Then we thought, hey, let's get a few of that other breed, and some of those, and.....So we ended up with 16.

Now we're planning meat birds come spring.....enough to stock the freezer so we aren't supporting factory farms and aren't paying crazy prices for non-factory like we are now. That should be about 50

one day the neighbors buys some chicks, her hubby talks my hubby into buying chicks 2.

my Dh tells me to buy the chicks cause he doesn't know where to buy or what to do!
he.gif

so I go online and find a hatchery or 2.

I order 5 buff orphingtons , 5 white rocks, 5 red sexlinks and 5 RIR too. ( 20 )
jumpy.gif

then the hatchery calls and says no no mamm, you must have a total of 25 to make this shipment come true,
he.gif

so I order 2 orphington roos and 3 more white rock, to complete this order of chicken coos . ( 25 )
jumpy.gif

mean while the hubby desides not to wait for me to tell him i already ordered,
ep.gif

He gets on the pc and orders a few on his own, he orders 10 buff orphingtons and 15 red sexlinks ( 25 ) + (25) = (50)

I have no clue that he has ordered and he has no clue that I ordered, I wake up to get ready for work, I say DH, the biddies will be here by the end of the week

he replies I know, I say who told u, he says the company I ordered from, I'm like wait I thought I was doin the ordering aand i already ordered 25 birds

then he says well i didnt think you had time, so I went ahead .......
hu.gif

now we're over the shock , n just wait for the birds , because by now they are being shipped,

we get the call from the Post Office and we go to pick up the biddies, I think to my self y are there 3 boxes instead of 2,
barnie.gif

when I get them home I Noticed that hubby"s hatchery sent 2 boxes, when I open the boxes I see that they sent double the birds yes that is another ( 25 )

yes yes yes my dh ordered twice... wth ....once over the shock and doin the math I know have 88 birds because of the extras they sent in the boxes,
idunno.gif

n then if thats not enough the DH decides that he wants to raise some meaties, and yes he did it again, instead of ordering 50 he ordered 100, we lost about 10 of those very early so the is and EXTRA meaties ( 90 ) + Egg layers ( 88 )= 178

oh yeah the neighbors decides that they changed there minds and was gonna wait to next year to raise chicks ..... so now they have none and we have a farm!

okay - I was going to get 3 chickens for eggs. Got 3. Saw a couple little Bantam sized chicks - brought 2 more home. Got 3 Silkies locally = 3 roos - gave 2 away, came home with 2 mixed pullets. Had to get a little Leghorn chick out of a bad situation. Dog incident with my barred rock - had to replace her. RIR chick died suddenly - causes still unknown - got another ee chick. Both banties got terribly rooish overnight! found tham a new home. Saw a nice pullet who was related to my other two anyway - so she came home. Had to agree to help out today when given a pretty bald hen (many roos). 5 LF chicks, 3 bantam pullets. 1 , 1 1/2 year old hen - she is the only one laying. I have one chicken! Hey - I got my first chicken today!!!

Sorry, deChickyHen, your math is not correct. It is ok, you are a beginner, so it is to be expected.

Since your DH didn't know you ordered 25 birds, they don't count, so -25
Since you didn't know your DH ordered 25 birds, they don't count, so -25
Since he didn't realize he ordered double, they don't count, so -25
Extras never count, so -13
Meaties are short term birds, so they don't count, so - 90.

That gives you a grand total of 0 chickens!

My logic worsens...since I set up a incubator yesterday in prep for the dozen ADDITIONAL serama eggs I ordered, well heck, it holds 28 and I only have 12 coming...late night purchase of 6 Yokohamas (what the heck am I doing with those?) and feeling the pull towards some sebrights.

Coop and run expansion starts in a couple of days. Hoping not to get a another scar above my eye - although I could shoot for matching.

And, I can't endure my addiction alone. I have become the Chicken Pusher at work and have a staffer building a coop as we speak to take three of my newly hatched chicks. Of course that still leaves me with a few dozen. I worry for my friends who have BDays coming up. I think I know what I am getting them.
